The session of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church presided over by His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine- -
CONSIDERED the information of His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine on the pastoral visit to Ukraine of the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia on February 24-25, 2010.
Reference: On February 24-25, 2010 the archpastoral visit of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia to Ukraine was made.
On February 24His Holiness the Patriarch and the members of the delegation were met at the Boryspil airport by the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine, members of the Holy Synod of the UOC, clergy, students of the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary, representatives of the state authorities.
The same day in the evening His Holiness Patriarch Kirill visited the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra where in the territory of the near Caves he was met by Deputy Abbot of Lavra, His Eminence Pavel, Archbishop of Vyshgorod, the UOC hierarchs and the monastery brethren. His Holiness venerated the Wonderworking Icon of the Dormition of Theotokos that stays in the Church of Exaltation of the Holy Cross of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, following which he bestowed his archpastoral blessing to the monastery brethren.
On February 25, at the Refectory Church of the Kyiv Caves Monastery His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr performed the thanksgiving prayer service, in the course of which they lifted prayers to God for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. Praying at the service was newly-elected President of Ukraine Victor Yanukovych. Upon completion of the prayer office His Holiness addressed Victor Yanukovych with a word of greeting on the occasion of his election to the office of the president of Ukraine.
His Holiness Patriarch Kirill and His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr in concelebration of the members of the Holy Synod of the UOC performed the Divine Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts.
Intheevening His Holiness Patriarch Kirilland the accompanying persons left for Moscow.
RESOLVED:
1. To take the information into account.
2. To raise gratitude to All-merciful God for His mercy to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and our God-loving people manifested in the possibility of prayerful communion with the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.
3. To express sincere gratitude to His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russiafor the archpastoral visit made and for the spiritual support of the believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
