On the evening of October 1, 2011 upon the visit to Chernivtsi diocesan administration Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus Cyril went to the Holy Spirit Cathedral of Chernivtsi, where he served the All-Night Vigils.
Concelebrating to His Holiness were: Metropolitan Vladimir Chisinau and all Moldova; Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokalamsk, chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, Chernovtsy and Bukovina Onuphrius, Metropolitan Serhiy of Ternopil and Kremenets; Metropolitan Bessarion of Ovruch and Korosten; Metropolitan Pavel of Vyshgorod and Chernobyl, the deputy abbot of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra ; archbishop Anthony of Hur'yev and Urals; Archbishop Mark of Khust and Vynohradiv; Archbishop Theodore of Kamyanets-Podolskyy and Horodok; Archbishop Metrophanes of Bila Tserkva and Bohuslav, administrator of the UOC; Bishop Volodymyr of Pochayiv, deputy abbot of the Holy Dormition Monastery of Pochayiv; Archbishop Anthony of Boryspil, rector of the Kyiv Theological Schools; Archbishop Alexander of Pereyaslav-Khmelnytskyy and Vyshneve, Bishop Methodius, Bishop Agapit of Severodonetsk and Starobilsk; Bishop Meletius of Khotyn; Bishop Sergius of Solnyechnohorsk, head of the Administrative Secretariat of the Moscow Patriarchate, Bishop Iriney of Nizhyn and pryluky, Bishop Panteleimon of Ivano-Frankivsk and Kolomiya, Bishop Evlogiy of Sumy and Okhtyrka, members of the delegation in the holy order, accompanying His Holiness; host of clergy.
Attending the church service were Minister of Fuel and Energy of Ukraine Y.A. Boiko, head of the State Administration of Chernivtsi region MM Papiev, acting Chairman of the Regional Council of Chernivtsi region V. Manylych, deputy chairman of the Synodal Information Department I.V. Myeschan, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, representatives of regional and municipal administrations.
The church could not accommodate all the faithful, so a screen was installed in front of the church, which broadcast the service.
After the Vigil service His Holiness was welcomed by Metropolitan Onuphrius and given the icon of Our Savior as a present.
The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church addressed the audience with an archpastoral word. As a present to the His Holiness the Patriarch gave a copy of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, and the faithful were handed small icons of St. John of Sochava with patriarchal blessings.
In conclusion many years were sung to His Holiness Patriarch Kirill in Church Slavonic and Romanian.
Tomorrow, on October 2, Patriarch Kirill will perform the consecration of the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Holy Ascension Banchen monastery and celebrate there the Divine Liturgy, and take part in the opening of an orphanage for disabled children under the auspices of Banchen monastery.
