On October 1, 2011 upon arrival to Chernivtsi His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia visited the Chernivtsi diocesan administration.
The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church visited St. Nicholas Church of the administration, where he bowed unto the shrines of the temple and the portion of the relics of the Holy Great Martyr John the New of Sochava.
His Holiness the Patriarch addressed the participants with a brief speech: "Your Eminences and Graces, dear brothers and sisters! I’m happy to have an opportunity of entering this St. Nicholas church in the lands of Bukovyna in Chernivtsi, in dioceses, an opportunity to see you - believers, brothers and my sisters, who firmly keep the orthodox faith, and remain true to the Church of Christ. I am convinced that in response to this loyalty, in response to this faith the Lord will give all of you what you need to in this life and the eternal one. "
"Let the Great Holy Rus never disappears in our minds - from north to south and from east to west - washed by the blood of martyrs and confessors, tears, sweat and prayers of the holy venerable fathers. All of us are heirs of this movement"- said the Primate, passing the icon of St. Sergius and Herman of Valaam as a gift to the Church.
The believers were distributed the icons depicting St John of Sochava with patriarchal blessings.
Then His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, accompanied by Metropolitan Onuphrius of Chernivtsi and Bukovyna visited the office of diocesan administration.
